Wonderful Weekend!

Ryan's cousin and his girlfriend came in town last weekend. They brought their dog Bentley along, too! We had great weather for hanging outside while the dogs played together. Both doggies seem to be a little co-dependent on their owners... not wanting to play in the yard, rather squeeze onto the deck or into someone's lap.

Ryan and Kyle played a round of golf Saturday morning, while Jessi and I hit the City Market. The boys didn't do too well at golf, but Ryan's excuse was that it was his "first round" of the year. Yeah, yeah! Our time at the City Market was wonderful! The weather was beautiful! We got fresh strawberries and blueberries for a fruit salad, and also romaine, tomatoes, and peppers for a fresh green salad. Both tasted so summery!

On Saturday evening, we had Brandi and Chad over for dinner on the deck and the guys watched UFC (not my favorite by any means) Ryan's favorite fighter, Matt Hughes won, which we're all thankful for. Little Ryan doesn't do too well when he, or his favorite team loses. I won't mention KU's loss in the basketball tournament this year!

We spent Sunday working in the yard. Ryan mowed while I planted flowers and grass seed. Our nephew Kyle came over and helped me plant flowers. He even got to take a small pot with Snap Dragons home. He promised he would water and take care of it!

After all the planting, we went inside for a break. Kyle came up to me and said, "Aunt Nerned, I'm really hungry! What do you have?" He went walked to the kitchen and opened the pantry. He found popcorn and cereal. Both of which he finished! His mommy promises that she feeds him at home, but somehow, every time he comes to Aunt Nerned and Uncle Ry-Ry's, the boy is starving! Uncle Ry-Ry assumes it's because we have more than just salad at our house!

Easter Fun!

What a great time we had as a family for Easter this year!

Our festivities began on Good Friday with Ryan smoking ribs and pork for the Sevedge family Easter lunch on Sunday. He tried out 3 different options for the ribs... all of which were amazing! We're calling his new spin on the ribs "Johnny Trig Ribs" after the BBQ Pitmaster on TLC.

We got to spend time with the Weaver side of our family on Saturday. Brandi made ham for dinner, which was so yummy! In true Courter style, Ryan's family had enough food to feed an army. I was responsible for bringing bread. I opted for homemade bread, which was tasty, but my arms hurt on Sunday from kneading 3 loaves. After dinner, things got a bit hectic with Ryan's grandpa. He's been in and out of the hospital for pneumonia over the past few months and was just released last week. Against his better judgment, he came to Easter dinner and wound up sick and back in the hospital by Sunday morning. We all felt terrible that Grandpa felt so yucky! He's still in the hospital for now and thus far not feeling much better. We're all hoping he gets better soon.

Sunday began with church. It was our first Easter at Northland Baptist, our new church. It was a nice service, with everyone dressed so fancy! After church, we rushed home to meet the Sevedge side of our family for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. Before Kyle arrived at our house, we hid a dozen eggs, stuffed with goodies. As soon as he arrived, I told Kyle that the Easter Bunny had been to my house. He really enjoyed searching the living room for hidden eggs. With a little help from "Daddy-John" (as Kyle calls him) he was able to locate all of the eggs. Grandma hid her eggs outside and Kyle giggled with glee every time he spotted the brightly colored eggs spread throughout the yard. The only ounce of grumpiness we saw during the egg hunt was when Sophie (Mom's dog) found the egg first! She swiped the egg, candy and all, and went tearing through the yard! Kyle wasn't happy that the dog had found the egg first! "Mine, mine, mine!" he yelled! We had a wonderful time swinging in the hammock and singing "Happy Birthday" to everyone in the family multiple times! That has rapidly become Kyle's favorite song!

The weather was beautiful all weekend long! We very much enjoyed our time with family and look forward to the wonderful weather to have more gatherings outdoors! Looking forward to next weekend with Ryan's counsin Kyle and his girlfriend Jessica!
