Union Station

Gracie and I went on a Mommy-Daughter date to Union Station this morning. We started with Big Bird's Adventure, a 25 minute movie inside the planetarium. Gracie was supposed to be 'quiet as a mouse' during the show, but luckily none of the other families were successful at keeping their munchkins muted for the program either. Every time Elmo or Big Bird appeared, Gracie shouted their name. Then she sang Twinkle Twinkle with them after we learned about the Big Dipper. Since the show was 360 degrees on the ceiling, it was fun for Gracie to turn every which way, looking for shooting stars and characters. Abby Cadabby did not show up, which was slightly disappointing to G. But we definitely had a good time anyway! Oh... Big Bird didn't get Gracie either, which was a relief! Lately shes been worried that animals or things will come and get her, so she repeated, 'Big Bird no get me'. And he didn't.

After walking around Union Station and riding the escalators a few times, we headed outside to look at the trains. While we examined the retired train cars in the parking lot, a real BNSF train went by. That was my dad's line, so it was kind of neat to tell Gracie about Grandpa Sevedge as it rolled by. She noticed how noisy the moving train was and repeatedly asked to go for a ride. Maybe another time we can do that, too!

It was a great morning hanging with my girl! There's so much to love about her, but today my favorite things were seeing her tell complete strangers about our adventure... coming out of her shell a little. And I also enjoyed just listening to her talk. So fun!
